The MBTI Types as Arts

ESTJ–Art History: an organizational art of storytelling through analyzing the past of the arts and their social and cultural contexts.

ESFJ–Fashion Design: serving both aesthetic pleasure and practicality, an art which must be acutely aware of and influenced by changing social expectations and trends.

ISTJ–Photography: a quiet art which often makes beautiful the everyday and aims to capture and preserve moments of reality for silent storytelling, awareness, and emotional impact.

ISFJ–Drawing: a delicate art whose creative possibilities are by no means confined to one medium; an often soft and subtle representation of an image which can carry great emotional and social significance.

ENTJ–Graphic Design: an art of the present and future which has the power to speak to and influence multitudes depending on how it is used.

ENTP–Architecture: a scientific, mathematical art which is often highly politically driven, architecture creatively makes statements about its political and social context and is competitively innovative.

INTP–Logic: an art of thought and reason intrinsic to philosophy and a general love of knowledge and search for truth and deep meaning through reason.

INTJ–Geometry: an artistic branch of mathematics concerned with the rational relations of spaces, volumes, and shapes; an application of pure logic into art.

ESFP–Dance: a highly physical art which, often joining many together, uses the human body and its power and movement to make moving performances.

ESTP–Theater: an immediate, live performance art full of dialogue and a very human representation of emotions, experiences, politics, or any other part of our human world.

ISFP–Painting: an art of quiet presentation but strong artistic presence, a colorful storytelling which comes to life on a blank canvas.

ISTP–Sculpture: a very physical and palpable art which has no limit in experimentation of materials.

ENFJ–Opera: a dramatic performing art which brings other arts together into a production that is also known for creating a highly social event.

ENFP–Animation: a playful, innovative, and technical art which involves many different aspects and can speak to the youthfulness in everyone.

INFJ–Classical Music: an almost ethereal art which wordlessly speaks to the heart of what it is to be human, articulating abstractly that which is otherwise so elusive and hard to express.

INFP–Literature: an art of creative storytelling with the opportunity to build entire worlds which can spring from a black and white page into colorful realities in the mind.

There are few people whom I really love and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.

Friendly Reminder

There’s no such thing as “herbal tea.”  It’s only tea if it has tea leaves (from the Camellia sinensis plant).  That includes black tea, green tea, white tea, purple tea, and yellow tea, for instance.  And there are plenty of tea blends that have other things in them as well, which are still tea (for instance my favorite black tea and rose petal blend).

So “herbal infusion” is the best way to say it for those yummy infusions which have no actual tea!

“Mozart’s contemporaries recognized that his music was different, and most if not all of them appreciated what set it apart: its harmonic and formal sophistication, the richness of its scoring and texture, and its remarkable fantasy and emotional complexity.  Yet during the 19th century, and for the first half of the 20th, Mozart was thought of either as the divinely innocent, porcelainized figure whose bust sat on the shelf, or as a modest precursor of the great Romantic composers.  We now see him as a more penetrating artist whose music, in addition to having surface beauty, is lit from within by its intense engagement with the emotions.  When we hear his music played today, it has an immediacy, clarity, and freshness that are wondrous and exhilarating, along with an ambiguity and tension, a fragility and poignancy, that bring us face-to-face with who we are, and at the same time take us outside ourselves to an ecstatic plane where gaiety, melancholy, and what Milan Kundera has called ‘the unbearable lightness of being’ seem to coalesce.”

Pride, Romance, Pen, Story - for the ask thing?

Pride (What was your latest personal achievement?) ~  I gained some new and very useful relaxation techniques, so I’m feeling a bit more at ease about going off to university in a few weeks:)

Romance (Have you ever felt you’ve fallen in love with something, anything, besides another human?) ~ Yes!  I’ve fallen in love with some places, specifically a few in Northern Italy, and definitely some music as well!

Pen (If you could live by absolutely anything, what would it be?) ~ It would be awesome to live by my imagination in some form, so for the real world, I’d say by writing:)

Story (Do you like to write?  If so, what type of writing do you like best?) ~  I love to write!  Really any kind of writing is quite satisfying to me; probably I like creative writing the best, closely followed by analytical writing, such as essays, as long as they are on an interesting topic (like philosophy is great, or literature).

Thank you so much for asking!! ♥

How are you? as an INFJ i ve never met another in person, have you? and if so, what was it like?

Well, thank you!  My mother is an INFJ, but aside from her, I also haven’t met any for sure INFJs in real life (I probably have, but no one I’ve known well enough to know their type).  I bet it would be awesome to have INFJ friends in person!  My mom and I have always been very close and understanding of each other, so the one (life-long) experience I have had has been very positive:).  My ENTP father and I also get along very well, but with my mom, there’s a sort of shared thinking and feeling pattern that is really nice.

Hey, love! Do you have any good book recommendations for an INFJ? I'm curious.💜

Hey!  I can share some things I’ve enjoyed or heard were enjoyed by other INFJS!  In general, I tend to like nonfiction and classics the most.  I do like some more contemporary fiction too, but not on the same level of some of my favorite older works.  I especially like nonfiction that really helps me dive deeper into a subject I’m interested in (for me, this has often been music:).

So here are some I’d recommend:
from the classics:
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen—Really all of Austen’s work, but this is my favorite.  From what I know, Austen herself sounds a good bit like an INFJ, and I wonder if that’s part of the reason the overall tone and perspectives of the story resonate so much with me.  Also, I think Elizabeth and Darcy are ENFP and INTJ respectively, and both have lots of INFJ-relatable thoughts and views.

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald—Between two of the big authors of the time, I think Fitzgerald’s writing speaks much more to the INFJ personality than does Hemingway’s.  All of Fitzgerald’s work feels much more intuitive focused than Hemingway’s often Se-heavy stories (to me), there’s more of a dreamy quality to it, and I love that.  Gatsby is full of Ni, too.  I’m not sure what Gatsby the character’s type is, but it’s definitely one with high Ni—an perhaps more likely one of the xNFJs.  His short stories are great too.

Animal Farm, George Orwell—Sensitive me found it disturbing, yet also extremely interesting and thought-provoking; not too different from the ways I’ll drift off and start thinking about all the troubles of humankind.

To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee—I loved this story, and I think it can be really accessible to the INFJ point of view.

Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson—Just had to put this one on the list as I loved it so much as a kid:).

If you like music:
This Is Your Brain On Music, Daniel Levitin—A nice combination of music and science.  I learned a bit about how the brain works, and the ways in which music is studied in the brain is fascinating.  It goes through all sorts of things from what parts of your brain are related with what aspects of music listening and creating to how music was involved in evolution.

Musicophilia, Oliver Sacks—I haven’t finished this one yet, but I love Sacks, and it’s quite interesting so far.  It’s mainly about cases in which music was involved.

For fun:

I’d like to try the Princess Diaries book–I loved the movie as a sort of light and enjoyable favorite, and I related quite a bit to Mia and even some of her circumstances, so I imagine the book could be a fun escape too!  (besides, as I’m sure is obvious anyway, this was the inspiration for my blog title:).

That’s what is coming to mind at the moment:)  Thank you for asking!!:)
