You truly don’t appreciate what a good platform Discord is until it’s down for an extended period. Where, now, am I able to engage in casual conversation with “whoever, if anyone, is around?” Here, on tumblr? No thank you please

It’s worse because Discord is back working for some people, and I’m still getting notifications when someone in one of my servers manages to log on and talk, but I myself cannot log in and participate.

funniest thing would be if when Queen Elizabeth dies or steps down and Charles is all ready to assume the throne, here comes King Arthur, Excalibur in hand, sauntering back from Avalon like “oof what a nap! thanks for keeping the chair warm I’m back to be king again”

like, given that “King Arthur isn’t actually dead, he’ll be back to be King again someday” is, like, an actual aspect of the legend and a thing that a lot of people purport to believe, has anyone ever actually tried it? showing up to buckingham palace claiming to be Arthur Pendragon, The Once And Future King, and assume the throne? does the british government have a protocol for checking whether someone claiming to be King Arthur actually is? does parliament have a secret picture of the Real Excalibur kept under lock and key, only viewed if someone claims to be King Arthur, that they can use to confirm or refute the identity of alleged Kings Arthur? if not, how do they deter every jackass with a sward from pretending to be him? does filing a false King Arthur report constitute treason?

But honestly, he’s probably have to show up when the anti-monarchists get too strong and overthrow the crown. And if he doesn’t, someone has to go on a quest to find out what’s keeping him

If there’s a chance the monarchy might be destroyed and the royals deposed, then let’s hope he never comes back

Big thing I’ve noticed is that shitty people tend to assume everyone else is as shitty as them, but that they believe it’s fine when they do it and DIFFERENT when OTHER PEOPLE do it to THEM

For example, remember in Mean Girls when Regina complimented a girl’s skirt and then, as soon as she walked away, started mocking the girl’s “fugly” skirt? I’ve met people who do shit like that and guess what, whenever someone pays them a compliment, they assume that the second they walk away, that person is mocking them for the exact thing they complimented. I’ve never once seen someone like this be self-aware enough to make the connection between “their fear that people are doing that to them” and “the fact that they regularly do that to people”

You will never meet someone more paranoid that their partner is going to cheat on them than somebody who regularly cheats on their partner. That person will never, ever understand that The Thing They Do and The Thing They Don’t Want Someone To Do To Them are the same thing

#where is this episode of the crown?!

Given the time period Arthur was purported to be king, I think your first clue would be if they’re speaking modern English… Or really any kind of English… Arthur was king before the Angles invaded… If I’m remembering correctly, it would be the ancient celtic language that later split into Welsh, Cornish, and Breton (possibly forgetting 1 or 2 more)… So there’s that.

Like they don’t have duolingo on Avalon. NEXT.

Every time I think this website has learned what the word “neoliberal” means I’m given the rude awakening of finding out that nope, you all still have zero idea whatsoever

Neoliberalism specifically emphasizes laissez-faire economics through regulation, privatization, and government austerity. Two of the most famous Neoliberals are Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. I know it has the word “liberal” in it and that’s the depth of thought most of you have given it, but it’s very specifically a conservative idea system. It doesn’t just mean “anybody who’s left of the political center but isn’t an avowed socialist”

Also, at least where americans are concerned, everyone left-of-center is a liberal and everyone right-of-center is a conservative. “more liberal” in america means “more left-wing.” When what you’re trying to voice is that you wish any given candidate was less of a centrist and more of a leftist, but what you say is “I wish they were less liberal,” the thing you’ve said is the opposite of what you mean.

I’m just like. Continuously in awe of the fact that like, when they revealed they were adapting “Watchmen” again I assumed it was going to be terrible and was just like “it doesn’t need an adaptation, I can just read the book,” and like… boy am I glad I was super wrong about that! The show has been consistently knocking it out of the park for seven consecutive weeks and, I don’t say this lightly, has actually improved upon the source material to the point where I’d feel like anyone who’s read the comic, but not watched the series, has had a worse experience overall.
