Introverted Thinking (Ti): Buzz is detached, efficient, and logical. He believes he can fix any situation – and often does! But in the first film, he’s also believing something that makes sense to him (he is the REAL Buzz), and is not true in the outside world; he refuses to listen to or consider the “evidence” right in front of him, even when Woody points out that his laser doesn’t work. Buzz is confident he can handle any situation…
Extroverted Sensing (Se): …and adapts with skill to his environment. He believes he can fly, so he “falls with style.” He is often the first to spring into action whenever anyone needs rescued or helped. Buzz isn’t afraid to try new techniques or throw himself out windows. He fearlessly uses a rocket to get them over the truck, then severs the tape with his wings, and drops them right into Andy’s car.
Introverted Intuition (Ni): Buzz is crushed when he no longer believes he has a “destiny” to save the known universe; he cannot deal with the thought of being a toy, until Woody helps him find a new vision: making Andy’s life memorable! Buzz can be insightful on occasion, and sometimes accurately guesses other people’s motivations.
Extroverted Feeling (Fe): Once the realization hits that he is, in fact, a toy, Buzz is crushed. He starts behaving out of character, ranting, wailing, and pitying himself. He talks incessantly about his disappointments, and is only bolstered into action when Woody reassures him that Andy adores him, that he misses him, and that he is a COOL toy.
